Treats For Santa On Christmas Eve - Rum And a Cigar!

Treats For Santa On Christmas Eve - Rum And a Cigar!

It's the same 'ol same 'ol every Christmas Eve in America and elsewhere, it's supposed to be cutesy wootsey to put out a plate of cookies and a glass of milk for Santa before everybody in the house goes to bed.......
Excuse me??
Oh, Puleeease!!
Folks, let's get something straight - Santa is the hardest workin' man on the planet (even if it's only for one day and one night). In fact, the notion that he only works one night is a MYTH. He's gotta prepare for his night delivery ALL DAY LONG on the 24th, making sure the fusilage of his sled has structural integrity, the cargo is loaded correctly so the load doesn't shift, get the reindeer fed, etc. you get the picture.
So let's not forget - Santa Claus is An ADULT, and a working adult needs adult refeshments and fortifications for the fastest, most enduring delivery day on earth.
Here's the run-down on what I leave for Santa every Christmas Eve: Rum and a Cigar!!
Treats For Santa Claus on Christmas Eve
~ A Good Cigar ~
This year, Santa gets a Macanudo Cigar, Hampton Court - a mild Dominican Blend for filler, a choice binder from Mexico, and a top-quality Connecticut shade wrapper. The end result is a cigar with a mellow, smooth taste. Perfect for a man who’s busy working all night long in the freezing cold air all over our overcrowded planet. And the pleasant aroma of a good cigar does an effective job of masking the nasty smells inside those chimneys that most people don’t clean regularly.
~ Bacardi Select Black Label Rum ~
This Christmas eve I went with a Puerto Rican Rum (I usually pour Santa a glass of Jamaican or Barbados Rum but I spent a few dollars on some bottles of California wines to take with me to North Las Vegas for New Years Eve celebrations. Santa understands). Bacardi Select Black Label is a blend of select aged rums, charcoal-filtered for smoothness before mellowing in oak barrels. This type of Bacardi rum is amber in color, medium-full bodied with palate that has hints of toffee, honey, and caramel. The finish (after-taste) is buttery with a tinge of oak (natch!). Nothing takes the chill off the body of a big hard-working man in the middle of the night better than a solid brace of rum (but Gentleman Jack Daniels works pretty good too, Santa says).
~ Chocolate ~
A must for the jolly fellow, not just for the sugar rush he needs for such an all-night workout in store for Santa on Christmas Eve, but most importantly THE CAFFEINE content. But don’t overdo it for Mr. Claus. If we all leave him just a little at every household he visits, well, it adds up, you know what I mean?
?
~ Carbohydrates (Carbs), Home-Made ~
OK, so I said forget the cookies but Santa really does appreciate the time and effort people go through when baking tasty treats, it’s just that cookies are SOOOO grade-schoolish and passe` and out-of-date 20th century. For Example: Nancy Dole’s home-made banana nut bread is something that Santa appreciates in a most happy and profound fashion, a fine example of the high-quality home-made carbs that Santa craves on his hardest (and only) working day and night of the year!

I took the vent hood down to find where the outlet was. Upon doing this, I discovered that: 1) There are no charcoal filters in it, so it's pretty much been useless since we got the place. No biggie since we're vegetarians and don't fry things (and obviously hadn't been in the hood to change the charcoal filters), but still. 2) See those pear-shaped holes in the corners of the things? It looks pretty obvious to me that one would therefore mount it by using big-headed screws and sliding it onto them. This is not how it was mounted. It had sheet metal screws randomly shoved through the top of it all over the place. What.
